First Meeting
We met on the first day of Orientation Week while walking along Ring Road at the University of Waterloo. Saksham interrupted a conversation that Michelle was having on the IB program. Since Saksham also did the IB program, a commonality was found immediately. From there, Saksham and Michelle exchanged phone numbers and became friends.

The Big Question
Just before Saksham is about to leave for his first co-op term in Montreal at RadialPoint, he calls Michelle using Skype (remember Skype?) to ask Michelle to be his girlfriend. After taking a few seconds to think through, Michelle accepted :)

YHacks Reunion
Michelle and Annie attend YHacks, a hackathon hosted at Yale University. During their weekend trip to New Haven, Saksham, who was working at Datadog during his co-op term in NYC, also buys a train ticket from NYC to New Haven to meet up with Michelle (in secret). This trip brought them closer together ;) Michelle ended up skipping the hackathon to explore New Haven with Saksham, who planned a fun weekend filled with hiking, sampling the famous New Haven-style pizza (which was not that yummy), and walking around Yale campus. This set the stage for a reunion and rekindling of their love.

Back Together
Michelle and Saksham reconnect and start talking again. During Michelle and Annie's trip to NYC, a brief hangout with Saksham and Bilal brought them closer. On Dec 1, 2018, they officially get back together.

Closing the Distance
After almost 3 years of long distance (and an entire pandemic), Michelle moves from Toronto to NYC to close the distance with Saksham. They moved in together initially to Saksham's studio apartment in Hells Kitchen and then to their own 1-bedroom place together in Long Island City.

They adopt Mooncake, their sassy formerly homeless tortoiseshell cat.

After 6 years together and almost 11 years since first meeting each other, Saksham proposes to Michelle on her birthday in Central Park.
